Has hate become the great motivator?

Introduction

Is it possible that hate is the primary motivation for human behavior?

The attacks by Hamas on Israel have shown a level of hate that may help us recognize the prevalence of hate throughout the global society. Have we refused to acknowledge the role that hate plays in our daily behavior?

In this post, I would like to point out a few examples of activities stimulated more by hate than any other potential cause. I don’t pretend that this list of examples is either exhaustive or well-researched. I only present it as food for thought.

Ukraine

On the global front, the next best example is the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Despite his claims that he wishes to restore the historical boundaries of Russia, Putin’s fundamental motivation for this invasion might be his hatred for Ukraine and what it represents.

American Politics

It seems that American politics is now riddled with examples of hate.

Joe Biden, with his comments about MAGA Republicans, has become the hater-in-chief. People throughout the government and beyond have demonstrated their hatred for Donald Trump, even though he was elected in the same system that elected Joe Biden. Our political parties no longer work together; the US capital is more like a battleground.

Some congresspeople have the gall to display Palestinian flags outside their offices. Whatever you think of our government, this is not an appropriate place to display such emblems.

Protests and Crimes in Our Cities

Many cities have become centers for hateful protests, property crimes, and murder. Doesn’t some level of hate stimulate these crimes? They are only outdone by the hatred demonstrated by mass shootings.

Protests at Universities

Protests at our universities have gotten out of hand. Students, who should be more thoughtful, stand on the side of perpetrators of war crimes.

Social Media

If you want examples of hate, check with social media.

Black Lives Matter

The organization known as Black Lives Matter perpetrates lies and promotes hatred. Members cannot separate “the cause” from the actions of the group.

Antifa

The group known as Antifa uses hate as its primary motivator. When has burning cities become a legitimate form of “free speech?”

Race Baiters

Ibram X. Kendi and Robin Deangelis have joined a growing list of race baiters who have earned significant incomes by preaching hate. These two have turned self-hatred into an art form.

And More…

I had made a long list of potentially hateful activities, but I felt these examples might at least get you thinking about the problem of hate. You will also notice that I have not mentioned hate crimes in other countries. I have heard credible commentators provide evidence that the problem of hate spreads worldwide.

Conclusion

Actions based on hate waste physical, mental, and economic resources that could be used for greater benefit. I don’t propose specific solutions for what I see as a growing problem. My purpose is only to get you to think about the growing problem of hate.
